ABSTRACT

Involuntary "shifting-effect" of the direction of circular movements. its interpretation from a synergetic perspective. The paper deals with the following effect: When a person is asked to make circles with both arms in clockwise or counter clockwise direction, it shows that under certain conditions an unexpected change of the direction of the movement takes place. One of the arms maintains the initial trajectory while the other arm involuntarily changes it. That means that from this time on the circle movements go into the opposite direction. The mentioned "shifting-effect" is discussed with regard to: 1. possible factors which can favour or prejudice its appearance, 2. a comparison to another motor effect which was systematically analyzed from a synergetic perspective, 3. a research taxonomy.
