MECANISME METACOGNITIVE IN CONTROLUL ATENTIONAL
ABSTRACT
The control of action in organisms capable of pursuing multiple goals is based on mechanisms that have as a primary function selectivity. From this perspective the attention is conceptualized as a goal-based modulation of the input from perceptual and memory systems to schemas guiding action. This guidance is metacognitive and is directed by intentions. Using this different approach, the present paper discusses the role of metacognitive processes for the implementation of attentional states.
