Schema Questionnaire (SQ), elaborated by Young and Brown (1990), evaluates the disfunctional cognitive schemata involved in personality disorders. It consists of 205 items to be answered on a scale from 1 to 6. The present study achives the preliminary adaptation and validation of SQ for the Romanian population. The convergent validation was studied in relation with the FPI questionnaire, and the practical validation was studied by using the criterion groups. The results show that SQ accurately discriminates between adolescents with behavior disorders, psychiatric patients, criminal law prisoners and the general population. Schema Questionnaire has an adequate test-retest reliability and internal consistency. The study also achives a factorial analysis of the questionnaire, it`s results being similar to those found by Mihăescu et al. (1997). The qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results offers essential information concerning the cognitive - behavioral therapy for personality disorders.
