ASPECTS OF SOCIAL CATEGORIZATION
ABSTRACT
This paper is a theoretical review of some important issues concerning social categorization. Special weight is given to explaining the role of social categories in everyday life and a special attention is paid to multiple categorization processes (cases in which more than one category may be used for a given social target). The final part of the paper presents some of the critical points in social categorization literature and few empirical hypotheses of interests in this area.
KEYWORDS: social categorization, automaticity, stereotypes.
