ABSTRACT

The present study tries to test some hypothesis concerning the causes of Romanian stereotype against homosexuality.  Our study    is based on recent theory of automatic activation of stereotypes and on empirical data from daily life. In Romanian society the role of men is still dominant comparing with women; the feminist movement is not strong enough: people be have in a discriminatory way based on sexual differences. The idea of this study is that theories used to explain stereotypical gender behaviors could be used to explain the stereotypes against homosexuals.  The results that we obtain sustain this idea.
